Raoul Wallenberg

Raoul Gustaf Wallenberg was born August 4th, 1912, in Lidingö. He was the son of Raoul Oscar Wallenberg and his wife Maj, née Wising. Raoul Jr:s grandfather Gustaf was the son of André Oscar and Anna Wallenberg.
What Raoul Wallenberg achieved during his mission in Budapest in 1944 is acknowledged not only by Swedes but all around the world. The knowledge of his endeavor to save Jews from the Holocaust was furthered by his appointment as honorary citizen of the United States in 1981. His unfortunate fate and presumed death during Soviet imprisonment after his altruistic and heroic venture for saving lives has given him a place in the memory of mankind.
The Foundation does not have Raoul Wallenberg’s archive, but there are various documents concerning him in other archives administrated by the Foundation.
Some years ago, the Foundation received a request from the von Dardel family via the researcher Susanne Berger for information regarding Raoul Wallenberg. The request has been processed and the findings are to be found here.
